The Significant Support Needs (SSN) program at Rifle Middle School offers special education and related services (e.g. Mental Health, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech-Language services) for students with significant developmental delays in multiple areas, such as cognitive, speech/language, and adaptive delays. Instruction focuses on the individual educational needs, as well as social and adaptive needs as a foundation for the students’ Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives.
Each student in the SSN program learns in their own way. Educators, and support staff, in the classroom work hard on finding and implementing the best strategies and programs to help with each students’ learning.
All students are encouraged to be independent, to learn at their own pace, and to have opportunities to engage in school and community, while still being able to get the support they need.
The students in the SSN program are involved in various general education classes (academic and electives), as well as have opportunities to participate in all school functions they are able to (dances, assemblies, concerts, sporting events).
Students in the SSN program at Rifle Middle School are truly a part of the RMS community and fabric.
