Welcome to RMS!

September 16, 2019

Greetings RMS Families!

We are off and running in the school year - it hardly seems possible we are headed into the third week of September!

6th grade learners are adjusting to their busy school life at RMS and are a delightful group. They have learned to navigate lockers, schedules, and the building itself. Our sixth grade teachers have LOTS of positive things to say about your kids!

Volleyball and football are underway and we are impressed by their sportsmanship and teamwork thus far. You can find the volleyball and football game schedules on the Rifle Middle School website by clicking on the “athletics” tab.

Student Council representatives have been selected and they conducted their first meeting on September 9th. This group of student leaders plan and organize student events such as Thursday Thriller Nights and dances. There will be a Thursday Thriller night for 6th grade kids on Thursday, October 24 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. - more details to come! There will be a 7th and 8th grade dance at RMS from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1.

Also, Rifle High School principal, John Arledge, has already made a trip to RMS to begin speaking with the kids about programming at the high school and why what they do (or don’t do) right now really does matter when it’s time to take the next step in their education.

It’s not too soon to mark your calendar for Fall Conferences at RMS on Thursday, October 17 from 5:00 - 7:30 p.m.  Look for additional communication to come home about this soon!

This link will take you to a list of dates (other than sports competitions) for the whole school year, including the PTA dates. If you can only attend one PTA meeting for the entire school year, please attend on Wednesday, October 2 at 6:00 p.m. in the RMS library. This meeting will focus on all of the different tasks a parent could help with during the school year that will also fit in with your very busy lives!  There are things each person can do to help in small ways and altogether it adds up to BIG BENEFITS FOR KIDS!

Please reach out to our office at 665-7900 if you have questions!

It’s a joy and a privilege to serve the kids and community of Rifle!
